The University of Miami School of Law and Young ICCA award one full-tuition scholarship ($61,100) to an outstanding Young ICCA member to attend the White & Case International Arbitration LL.M. Program.

Scholarship Application Process: Essay Competition

The Young ICCA Scholarship winner is chosen on the basis of an essay competition and an assessment of academic and professional achievements and skills. To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must submit a written essay of no less than 2,000 words. Essays should address recent developments in the area of international arbitration in the applicant’s home jurisdiction, such as:

  • Passage or entry into force of a new arbitration law;
  • Establishment of a specialized court for matters related to arbitration;
  • Recent court case on enforcement of or challenge to arbitral awards, interim measures, etc.;
  • Recent, prominent arbitral award rendered (if available); or
  • Other recent developments in the area of international arbitration, such as opening of a new arbitral institution.

Absent such recent developments in the applicant’s home jurisdiction, applicants may detail their passion for the study and practice of international arbitration in their written essay. Applicants also may choose to address other topics related to international arbitration in their submission.

Applicants who would like to be considered for the Young ICCA Scholarship must submit a complete application for admission to the International Arbitration LL.M., including all required supporting documentation, as well as their scholarship essay by the December 15 priority deadline. Applicants should submit their scholarship essay via this form by the December 15 deadline.
