Rebecca Sharpless, Director of the Immigration Clinic, was recognized with the Excellence in Experiential Teaching Award and by the American Immigration Lawyers Association with Elmer Fried Excellence in Teaching Award. Also, her recent book, Shackled: 92 Refugees Imprisoned on ICE Air, was recently honored with an Independent Publisher Book Award.

February 2024 - Professor Rebecca Sharpless lectured on her new book, Shackled: 92 Refugees Imprisoned on ICE Air" which presents a rare look at the brute-force mechanics of deportation in the U.S. HOPE Public Interest Resource Center - hosts information sessions on jobs and fellowships in the area of immigration and makes immigration law volunteer opportunities available to students during law school at local nonprofits groups, including Americans For Immigrant Justice, Catholic Legal Services, and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
