The JD/MBA combines the Juris Doctor from Miami Law with the Master of Business Administration from Miami Herbert Business School. This integrated three-year program – rather than the five it would take to complete both degrees separately – is designed for students who want to lead where law and business intersect.
Through a carefully coordinated academic plan, select credits count toward both degrees, so you can go deeper into your studies, reducing redundancy. Students can begin MBA coursework as early as the summer after 1L, maintaining momentum through hybrid delivery and summer offerings.
The JD/MBA is for students who want to pair legal expertise with business leadership and want the credibility, versatility, and network of both Miami Law and Miami Herbert. It’s an ideal path for those interested in:

The costs associated with enrolling in a Joint Degree program will depend upon whether students are enrolled on a full-time basis in the School of Law during a particular semester. Students enrolled full-time at the School of Law (11-17 credits) will be charged for full-time Law School tuition. Students enrolled at the School of Law for fewer than 11 credits will be charged a per credit rate for their law credits. Students will pay the Miami Business School tuition rate for their MBA credits. A full schedule of tuition and fees for each department is available at www.miami.edu/osas. Students should consult with both the Office of Financial Aid and the Dean of Students to coordinate their course selection in light of the cost of enrolling in a Joint Degree program. Students requiring financial aid should request information from the Office of Financial Aid. It is strongly recommended that applicants seek counseling from a financial aid advisor in order to determine the feasibility of obtaining adequate student loans to cover tuition costs for both degrees -- the JD and MBA -- as well as additional funds that may be required for living and incidental expenses. If a student receives a law school scholarship, it may only be used for JD courses. If a student receives an MBA scholarship, it may only be used for MBA courses. For additional information concerning financial aid application procedures, please visit CaneCentral here. Students who apply for the joint JD/MBA program must apply to both the School of Law and the Miami Business School. The applicant must achieve a qualifying score on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) for admission to the respective schools. The GMAT may be waived for Miami Law students at the discretion of the MBA Admissions Committee. The applicant must notify both schools that he or she is applying for the joint JD/MBA program, and in order to remain in the joint program, the student must meet minimum standards of both the School of Law and the School of Business Administration.
